New Year’s Eve Party Game

Are you done with Christmas, and moving on with the New Year? Even though the Christmas holiday isn’t technically over, I know I have to plan my New Year’s Eve party before Christmas, or it won’t happen!

This year, between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, we have 3 birthdays (mine and two brother’s-in-law), Christmas (obvs.) a second BIG Christmas with my whole side of the family and a brother’s rehearsal and wedding. Yeah, all withing six days. So I should have made plans already!

We don’t do a whole lot for New Year’s Eve, mostly because I am too old (?) to stay up really late, and I have kids, so I don’t do fancy parties. Some years we don’t do anything, we treat it like any other day. Other years, we just get together with family and friends and eat yummy food, watch movies and watch the ball drop on tv.

Sometimes we pull out games, and this year, we’re going to do this little game I put together. It’s not REALLY a game in that you roll dice or use playing cards, but it’s a chance to catch up on the past year and reflect on the past.

I’ve included it in a download if you want to use it with your family and friends, as well. Simply click on the link and print it yourself!

Before the party, cut out the cards and fold them in half so the words can’t be seen. Place them in a bowl, or a hat, or something else. Get creative!

Have each person, in turn, draw a card and read it out loud. They then have to share something that pertains to the card. You could even have people draw a card at the beginning of the night, or a few minutes before the game, so they have a bit of time to think about it. On the other hand, it can be awfully fun and funny to have to think of it really quick, on the fly!
