Nemours Children’s Hospital Christmas Tree Display

Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando goes all out in Decorating for Christmas

Have you ever been to a children’s hospital during the Christmas season? They typically go all out in the decorations and special events. The doctors, nurses and all support staff try to make it as cheerful as possible for the children and families that need to visit during the month of December. We're celebrating Blogmas! Day 6

Last week, I had to take my son to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando for a re-check on his orthotic leg braces. This is the same hospital where he had his surgery, so it’s very familiar to us. We walked in the door and the lobby was full of Christmas trees; there were probably 20 of them! I loved that the staff at the hospital had taken so much time to make each tree look different and fun.

Before we left, my kids and I took the time to look at each tree; some were decorated by different departments while others had a special theme, like the First Responders tree. I tried to take photos of each tree, although not all of them are as good as others, what with the lighting and cell phone camera.

I just wanted to share a little bit of Nemours Children’s Hospital’s hard work and dedication to the children and families who come through their doors. If you know a nurse, doctor or First Responder, please remember to thank them for all their hard work and dedication during the holidays. One of our family’s traditions is to take baked goodies to the local police and fire station on Christmas day, as a way to say “Thank You” for their tireless service to us and our community. I may need to include the local hospital on this list!

If you have a friend or family member in the hospital over the holidays, Psychcentral.com has an excellent article on how to help them out during the Christmas season. There are many things you can do for them in the hospital, or even for their family at home.

Take a few minutes this season to be a blessing to those who need it the most.
