I Hate Cleaning my House...but it's not as bad anymore with this FREE Printable Cleaning Schedule

I Hate Cleaning my House – But Not as Much as I Used To! (FREE Printable Cleaning Schedule!)

I don’t know about you ladies, but cleaning is definitely not on my Top Ten list of things I love to do. It’s actually not even in my Top Twenty. Hmm…it’s not in my top anything.

Because I don’t love to clean, I can’t wait to get that feeling before I start. I have to clean whether I want to or not. And when I clean, I want to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Because, you know…I don’t really want to be doing it in the first place.

If you’re the same way as me, then you’re going to LOVE this FREE printable I’ve got for you today. This thing has saved my house many a-time from becoming a pig sty. When I don’t want to clean, I make up internal excuses about how I don’t know WHAT to clean, or what to do NEXT or some other whiny excuse. With this chart, I can’t make excuses because the answer is right in front of me. Oh, it’s Thursday? I guess I’ll do the laundry now.

Seriously though. This chart is great because you always know what your chores are, and you’ll see that it’s not never ending. Just do the items on the list and you’re DONE. You can check it off, or leave it alone, but you know it’s done and you accomplished everything on your list! If you choose to do more, so be it; that’s awesome! And if you don’t choose to do more? That’s awesome! Because you still completed your list!

Tools of the Trade in my House

Vacuum –

Guys, I don’t have a Dyson. Why? Cause they’re expensive. Would I like one? Oh yeah. But for now, I use my trusty Hoover Bagless Vacuum. I love the fact that it’s lightweight (I live in a two-story house!) and the cord retracts. The retractable cord not only stays neat, it’s cool to push the button and watch it swoosh into the machine.

Broom and Mop –

Guys, I’m going to be honest here. I have yet to find a mop that sticks around for the long haul. You know those with the removable sponges so you can replace them? I always seem to break or mess up the mop so it never works well again. So I end up buying a new one. And sometimes I buy a different style, hoping THIS one will work out better. It usually doesn’t. I’ve tried the Swiffer mops, I’ve tried about everything.

The thing that I find works the best…this is just terrible…I get down on my hands and knees with a bucket of water and a sponge and I hand-mop the floor. It’s kind of back breaking after awhile. But you know what else I’ve discovered? My kids think this is really really fun! So guess who now mops with me?!? It takes a quarter of the time now!

Dusters –

I don’t dust. I mean, seriously. Occasionally I’ll grab a couple of wipes and wipe down surfaces, but I don’t have furniture that requires special furniture polish. I remember dusting when I was a kid. The lemon-scented spray, the rag that used to be a cloth diaper. Obviously, my cleaning requirements are sub-par compared to my mom.

Laundry –

I will say that the better the laundry basket, the easier the laundry. Each bedroom gets their own laundry basket. I like the short ones like this as opposed to the taller ones. And the ones where you can sort your dirty clothes as you take them off? That might work in my bedroom, but not in my kids. It’s hard enough to convince my eight year old that the dirty clothes can hang out in his basket throughout the week, not just when he gathers them off the floor on laundry day!

Laundry baskets are also used for our daily 15 minute pickups to help carry items to different rooms. It’s so much easier to put things in and take them out in the correct room all at once, rather than making several trips. Toddlers and preschoolers can also sit in them and read books or pretend to ride a train, so they’re pretty much the best thing on this list.

I keep all my basic cleaning supplies (sponges, cleaners, etc.) in a basket and carry it around with me when doing chores. It goes from bathroom to bathroom, as well as throughout the other rooms every day. I might need to scrub marker off the wall in the twins room (this is why I ONLY buy washable markers now! You barely have to even touch it and it comes right off. It’s probably scared of my mad face.) Cleaning goes much faster when you have all the tools you need right there, handy.

If you made it this far, it’s time to download the cleaning schedule now!Easy, Free Printable Cleaning Schedule

He’ll be pleasantly surprised when he gets home and it’s nice and clean every day, or if you don’t make it to the end of the day, it’ll be OK because he’s not expecting anything big.

I also despise cleaning.. who actually enjoys it? Well that’s not true, mainly I just find other things are higher priority. I also have trouble sticking to a cleaning schedule (terrible I know!) so thanks for the download, maybe it will get me back into routine!
